On
the World Maritime Day celebration, hosted by the Arab Academy for Science
Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), on 28th of September
2017, Port Ghalib International Marina was honored to be the best touristic
specialized marina in Egypt.
“The Maritime Day is an official day of the United Nations held annually to focus on the importance of maritime transport and maritime activities, highlighting the significant contribution of IMO and Member States to global efforts to improve shipping safety, security and efficiency and the protection of the marine environment” Capt. Sherif Fawzy, Manager of Port Gahlib International Marina, said.
“we’ve met the operational requirements for security, safety and preservation of the marine environment for this year” Capt. Sherif added “This isn’t the first time the marina honored such an award, it’s our 10th time, since 2004, the official beginning of operation” he confirmed “The marina was awarded to increase the morals for the management and the team to maintain a high level of performance and progress”.
Capt. Sherif said that we have agreed with the environmental reserve governmental office to secure for them permanent accommodation to speed up the necessary penalty procedures, in case any environmental transgressions happened from any yacht or vessel on board the marina
The
award comes within the framework of the keenness of the maritime transport
sector to encourage yacht tourism in Egypt and encourage tourist ports to
appear in the honorable appearance and reach them to the required level in
accordance with the international standards of safety, security and marine
environment.
