Diving has become popular
sport around the world, especially if you are visiting a city on the red sea
coast, you will be eager to live the red sea depth legend. All the past time,
disabled divers were deprived from getting along with the ride and have the
delight to penetrate the beauty of the deep and enjoying the area’s marine
life, coral reefs and colorful fish. But nowadays, everything has completely
changed. In a move for greater inclusiveness, diving centers in Hurghada,
Safaga and Marsa Alam are organizing trips for tourists with some physical
disabilities, after undertaking special training with experienced diving
instructors.
Diving centers now ready to
provide and conduct trips to disabled divers, after they were alerted about the
demand from disabled European tourists, particularly Germans, to embark on a
diving adventure deep in the Red Sea. The
cost of a diving trip for disabled tourists is about 40% higher than for
able-bodied divers.
As a promotional campaign for
this offer to encourage and revive the tourism sector, one of the diving
centers, in Safaga city, organized a diving cruise for 40 polish disabled
tourists which toured around the Red Sea’s coral reefs.
Hurghada diving center
association official Mr. Ashraf Saleh, the owner of “new divers” diving center
in Hurghada, a center specialized in organizing diving trips for disabled
tourists, said in an interview with “Egypt independent” newspaper that they
prepared their diving staff with intensive training courses for dealing with
handicapped guests. The center also is fully equipped to offer the preliminary
diving trainings with the compatibility of using wheelchairs. The center
has started promoting these kind of trips by contracting with some German clubs
for differently-abled people which will send over its members who are willing
to practice diving in Hurghada.
He added that the trip does
not start in the waters of the Red Sea, but begins immediately upon arrival for
those wishing to practice the sport in their hotel first. As they begin in the
training phase several days before to ensure that the diver has full knowledge
of the diving devices and techniques. Upon arrival at the agreed dive spot,
they are helped to stand on the back of the launch boat. They then descend into
the water which is the most difficult stage and then lead by the instructor
until they finish their dive with full specialized care and attention .
